This was my first transaction with ABC Gift Cards and also my first selling experience. I bought 4 Advance Auto Parts gift cards on eBay. I was planning to buy sets of tools that are available only online. Until I add items in the cart, and it is ready to check out, I didn’t know they don’t accept gift cards for online purchase. What’s am I supposed to do? The total face value of gift cards were nearly one thousand dollars. Sometimes I go to the store and buy some oil and fluid for my car, but it would take a long time to use up the amount of gift cards. I need money to buy the tools, anyway. So, I decided to sell those gift cards.

The first thing I came up with was selling them on eBay. However, eBay charges the seller 10% of sales price, and Paypal charges 2.9% + 30 cents as a transaction fee. I bought 4 gift cards at around 75% of discounted price.

  • I could easily sell them at the same price by eBay auction, but roughly estimated, I would lose $100 dollars.
  • I set the price 10% higher and sell by buy-it-now style so I get back almost the same amount of money I spent for 4 gift cards, but it would probably take time.

When I was choosing between these 2 options, I happened to reach ABC gift cards website. I don’t know how I got there, but that was the first time to know there was a place to sell gift card online other than eBay. ABC offers 65% of face value for Advance Auto Parts gift card. Even if I sell them on eBay auction, I would get the same amount of money after I pay fee to eBay. I figured out that it’s the fastest and safest way, so I took this offer.

ABC offers sending a check, paypal, or amazon gift card. If you choose amazon gift card, you can get 5% more value. That was appealing, but I couldn’t find tools I wanted on amazon.com, so I chose Paypal. In the website, I need to enter face value of each gift card, card numbers, and PIN although I send physical cards.

They don’t offer free shipping. All I got is order conformation page and their address. I saw “free shipping”  in FAQ section of their website, but it means that it is free for mails that they send to customers. I made shipping label at USPS.com. First class parcel with tracking number costs only $1.69.

The mail arrived in a few days and I waited for a week, but there was no update or email from ABC. I sent an email. They returned next day.

???? That’s it!? So what? Don’t look forward to serving me again before sending the payment! They don’t say what to do. It sounds that the transaction had completed. I soon returned, asking what to do to make the payment go though or if I have another options. The answer came on the same day.

We can send you a check or an Amazon payment if you’d like. It is probably simpler at this point.

I asked them to send me a check. The check arrived in a couple of days. It means that they send it promptly. But when I received the first email from them, I got so nervous and worried that I got scammed.  They says in their website validation process of gift cards takes only 24 hours. I had waited almost a week. If I didn’t make any contact, when would they tell me about the problem of paypal processing? Above all, their fist reply is not acceptable. It is unprofessional and irresponsible.

Here goes again
